The popular erectile dysfunction drug Viagra has been nicknamed the "little blue pill" for its effect on men's sexual health.
It was the first non-prescription drug approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
The drug, which has an estimated market value of£1.18 billion, is known for its long-lasting effect on erections. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, allowing more blood to flow into the penis when you get sexually excited.

Both belong to the group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. They work by blocking the action of an enzyme in the body called PDE5.
They are well-tolerated and generally do not cause an increase in sexual desire. However, in one rare side effect to sexual function, you may experience an erection that last longer than expected.

They will assess your condition and prescribe a lower dose of the medicine for you.
If you get any side effects and they are not serious, you should seek medical advice Dr Ormond and Dr Ormond would be more than happy to treat you with a short course of treatment for more erectile dysfunction.
If you get an erection that lasts more than four hours, Dr Ormond will send you to a sexual health clinic. You will be reviewed for appropriate medicines and you will be referred to a GP.
Low libido is defined as having a decline in sexual desire once a week. It occurs when a man has no sexual interest in bed and sexual thoughts or behavior are expressed sexually.

In addition, erectile dysfunction can lead to a reduced sex drive and an increased risk of certain health conditions, such as diabetes.
Low libido may be more common in older women and is more common in men with overweight or obesity.
Men with diabetes should have their blood sugar checked regularly, Dr Ormond said.
This medicine does not cure erectile dysfunction, but may work to increase the blood flow.

Dr Ormond was more than satisfied with the results of Viagra.
In one study, they found Viagra was47% lessthan the other ED medications.
Dr Ormond said, "In terms of treatment for erectile dysfunction, Viagra is a good choice because it lasts for 24 hours and it works well for many people with erectile dysfunction."

Viagra can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

It’s the most expensive way to buy Viagra (Sildenafil) in the UK, which costs £10 a tablet, and the most expensive way to buy Viagra and Levitra (Vardenafil) in the country, according to a recent survey of pharmacies in England.
“I thought it would be great to be able to get Viagra and Levitra at the same time,” said Pharmacist Dr Simon Molyneux, a GP at St Mary’s Hospital, in Bowness. He said patients should be able to purchase these products from pharmacies in England and the UK.
Dr Molyneux said that while many men with erectile dysfunction are prescribed Viagra or Cialis, the majority would prefer the latter.
“It’s not as simple as that,” he said, “and you can get the two drugs together within 15 minutes and you can have Viagra and Cialis within 30 minutes.”
But he said that for many men who are not satisfied with the first option, there were other options for their needs. He said that some men may prefer the first option, and the men would prefer a more convenient option.
“It’s important to keep in mind that some men may prefer the first option.”
Dr Molyneux said that while some men may prefer Viagra and Levitra to one another, there are other options that may be more convenient.
“Some men may prefer the first option. They can get either one within an hour and take it on a daily basis or they can have Viagra and Levitra together,” he said.
However, he said that many men would prefer Levitra or the first option. “They would prefer the second option.”
Some men may prefer the option of having Viagra and Levitra together, but he said that these men would prefer a more convenient option.
“If you have a lot of time to do it,” he said, “you can probably get a good night’s sleep, and then you can go and have sex within the next few hours.”
Dr Molyneux said that while some men would prefer the option of having Viagra and Levitra together, there were other options that may be more convenient. “You can have Viagra and Levitra within an hour and you can have Viagra and Levitra within 30 minutes.”
There are two main ways men can get Viagra and Levitra in England and the UK: the first is to buy them through a pharmacy, such as the Pharmacy Direct website or www.pharmacydirect.com, which can then order them online for £5 and £10, with delivery and free shipping in the UK within 2-3 working days.
For Viagra and Levitra, there is a free 30-minute supply option, or a 50-day supply, of the pills.
Levitra will cost £10, and Viagra will cost £30. Pharmacists will also be able to prescribe Levitra, which will cost £20 and Viagra, which will cost £40.
For men with erectile dysfunction and other conditions, the cost will vary depending on how much they are prescribed and their condition, but it will normally be between £10 and £30.
The cost of any treatment will usually depend on a number of factors, including whether the man is suffering from other conditions, how quickly they are responding to treatment and whether they are using their medication for the first time.
The NHS website provides links to free medical consultations and free online consultations for eligible men.

On 14 March 2023, the UK Medicines regulator approved an application to reclassify the erectile dysfunction medication Cialis. When marketed asCialis Together(tadalafil 10mg), it will be a ‘P’ (pharmacy) medication, and so available ‘over the counter’ in pharmacies – see. This follows the 2018, ‘P’ classification of (sildenafil 50mg) which has been available OTC, without a prescription, since then.

Unfortunately, there is a strong black market in the UK for ED medicines, which are often unlicensed or counterfeit. UK Border Force and the MHRA seize millions of pounds of these fake products from criminals annually. This new classification of tadalafil 10mg will enable men who suffer from ED to obtain it safely from a local pharmacy.
Sanofi, the drug manufacturer, is expected to launch Cialis Together later in 2023. Cialis Together will be available to purchase in pharmacies without a prescription by men over 18 with erectile dysfunction. Cialis Together tablets will contain 10mg tadalafil and the maximum pack size will be 8 tablets. Other doses and pack sizes of Cialis and tadalafil will still be available on prescription through doctors and specially trained pharmacists. Before purchase in a pharmacy there must be an assessment with a pharmacist, who will check that Cialis Together is appropriate and safe, or whether consultation with a GP is necessary.
Men suffering with ED will have another treatment option with the convenience of purchasing it in their local pharmacy, including pharmacies found inside supermarkets (eg. Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s). The pharmacist will ask some health questions, may check blood pressure, and will advise on treatment with Cialis Together or Viagra Connect, or the need to consult a GP. Pharmacies usually have a private room for such discussions.
Cialis Together is a 10mg tadalafil product for use at least 30 minutes prior to anticipated sexual activity. Its effects can last. It is not recommended for daily use. The maximum recommended dose of Cialis Together will be one tablet in 24 hours. Prescription Cialis and tadalafil will still be available at different doses.

We at Dr Fox are aware of the difficulties men have in discussing ED with their GPs and in accessing ED medication. We know that Cialis is effective and safe for most men and this change provides another option for obtaining ED treatment. Pharmacists are health professionals who are able to give ED advice but they will also know when to refer men who would benefit from a doctor’s assessment. ‘P’ medicines can also be supplied on prescription, and we will offer Cialis Together, when available, alongside our other competitively priced ED products.
